About the Canyon EDC

Canyon coordinates, collaborates: One team. One goal.
In a city that enjoys 250 days of sunny weather and an inviting year-round economic climate, you might be surprised at the way Canyon shines:

With an umbrella.

You see, while strength and skill are vital for scaling cliffs and global performance goals, good coordination is also vital to reach the top. Our umbrella organization of Business and Community Development allows for maximum city- and sector-wide coordination so that Canyon moves forward as one powerful team comprised of high-performance members including:

  • Canyon Economic Development Corporation (CEDC): Strategically funded by the innovative Texas 4B sales tax, the CEDC is positioned and staffed to provide the utmost in responsive service to incoming and existing business. The CEDC works closely to help industry identify needs and to create solutions that work.

  • Canyon Main Street: As a member of the Texas Main Street program since 2002, Canyon is accredited at both the state and national level. Following the Main Street Four-Point Approach—organization, promotion, design, business planning and development—the city’s Historic Downtown redevelopment is yielding dividends for all stakeholders: businesses are stronger, real estate values are solidified, and residents enjoy a more vibrant downtown experience.

  • Canyon Community Fund: This endowment provides opportunities for quality of life enhancements and partnerships with the Amarillo Area Foundation.

  • Save Tex Randall: We’re aiming high all across Canyon and succeeding. There’s no better example than the ongoing restoration of this 47-ft. high Texas Panhandle icon, a concrete, steel and wire mesh cowboy constructed over a half-century ago and soon to be restored as a “personable” addition to Historic Downtown.

  • Randall County Courthouse Restoration Fund Board: Constructed in 1908, the grand and historic Renaissance Revival style Courthouse is a Texas Historical Landmark, a State Archeological Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Working with the Voltz O’Connell Hutson architecture firm, Canyon is exploring best-use options through the efforts of this non-profit funding board.

Canyon’s Business and Community Development Office also works closely with other key collaborators including the Canyon Chamber of Commerce and the Canyon Merchants Association as well as private investors. Public-private cooperation has been a hallmark of our ongoing efforts and achievements.

Whether scaling the global economy or restoring Tex Randall from the tip of his boots to the top of his hat, Canyon is succeeding through coordination in redevelopment, new development and exciting growth. Let’s talk about how your business can grow with us.
